European Automotive Supplier MoU for Premium OEMs

3rd May, 2021

NVISO has signed an MoU for Automotive Interior Sensing with a global supplier of consumer and automotive solutions. The partnership will provide a complete interior solution including DMS and OMS to support an engagement with a major German Automotive OEM.

Connectivity, autonomy, and sharing megatrends are changing the car interior market. According to Yole, the in-cabin sensing market is expected to become US$3 billion in 2025 with a 56% CAGR. Most of this growth will be dominated by driver and occupant monitoring systems.

Interior sensing systems have become a necessary technology to monitor the driver for states of distraction and drowsiness. It is expected that this will shift to occupant monitoring systems for enhanced experiences in the transition to full self-driving (FSD) and electric vehicles. In recent years, due to public safety concerns, both the EU and China have laws and regulations in place. China is currently taking the lead with the mandatory installation of driver monitoring systems in commercial vehicles. The EU E-NCAP 2025 roadmap requires new cars to be equipped with driver monitoring systems from July 2022.

European Automotive OEMs are readying a wave of new electric vehicles with new interior experiences integrating interior sensing capabilities.
